  • Philosophy

The word philosophy is derived from a Greek term “Philosophia”, which means to “love the knowledge”. In a straightforward way, philosophy can be defined as the analysis of standard and fundamental issues that concern concrete issues such as principles, life, knowledge, reason, and terminology.

There are different ways to evaluate a philosophy which generally includes questioning, critical research, and logical debates. Philosophical questions are that are considered, before a study is initiated, include: can we really study the object or matter under consideration and is there any way to demonstrate it? What importance does it hold in real life? For example, beliefs are an essential part of our life and that is why experts give it a lot of thinking. The most concrete questions that they have developed are: do humans really have their free will, and what’s the ultimate way to live a successful life?

  • Psychology

Just like philosophy, psychology is also derived from a Greek word ‘psychologia’, which is usually translated as ‘the research of human brain.’ It is actually the study of the mindset of different individuals belonging to different areas of the world, having different beliefs and with totally different mindsets. Moreover, it also deals with the study of the behavior of the individuals under particular conditions, as well as their thoughts and connection between their thoughts.

It is a fact that the mindset of a person determines his willpower. So, to study this relation between mindset and willpower, applied research is put to use which helps to understand the role of mental functions in human behavior, while also checking out the physiological and natural functions that support cognitive handling and behavior.

Ideas explored up till now by psychologists include notion, cognition, attention, feelings, intelligence, phenomenology, desire, brain working, personality, behavior, interactions, and resilience.

Major Difference between Philosophy and Psychology

Philosophy is the study that supports all sciences, including mindset, so both disciplines overlap with each other in this case. However, philosophy can go far beyond than just the study of a mind and can include concrete factors like body as well as concepts. In other words, philosophy helps to grasp the basic concepts of the lifestyle of individuals, whereas psychology helps to understand individual behavior.
