Occupation
An occupation is any economic activity that a person performs for the purpose of earning a living. The time that each one dedicates to these activities can vary according to the case. There are those who develop their occupation daily, while others work weekly or monthly.
Examples: sellers, cashiers, drivers of vehicles…
An occupation does not necessarily require schooling or a university degree has been completed. Depending on its type, it may belong to one of the following three categories:
Business: when the person is involved in commercial matters, manufacturing…
Employee: occupations in which the person works for others and in return obtains regular income.
Profession: when the person provides their services applying their skills and knowledge acquired through training or education.

On the other hand, as we could understand after reading the last point, the concept of “occupation” includes that of “profession”; therefore, it is more general. In this way it is understood that whenever a profession is exercised one has an occupation, but not everyone who has an occupation is professional.
Examples: Lawyers, doctors, teachers.
Finally, to be considered professional it is necessary that the person has done some specialty or training in the area that corresponds to him. Likewise, professionals must be governed by a professional body or by-laws; since in case of not following the relevant ethical codes their right to practice the profession can be revoked.
