In its earlier days of life, K-Ubuntu was being managed a company but later on, it was transformed to community-supported software.
K-Ubuntu is free of cost, open-source platform as compared to Windows or Mac powered PCs, and is also the KDE release of Ubuntu. K-Ubuntu is not an improved version of Ubuntu. In fact, it is an entirely different concept. Its internal system replaces the Unity shell and GNOME system, which is employed by Ubuntu. The K-Ubuntu desktop can be installed on Ubuntu, using different software.
- Debian
Debian is also free of charge distro, but compared to K-Ubuntu, it is old and quite popular distributions among Linux users. It began as a community-supported project in 1993 and the good thing about being so old is that it is stable and has better support available. Moreover, it is highly secure.
Debian is much less slick as compared to K-Ubuntu and requires more Linux knowledge and experience, to interact with the applications to their fullest. Generally, it comes as CLI (Command Line Interface), which means it is text-based OS, minus the concentration on end user experience. But there does exist a GUI (Graphical User Interface) version available for Debian, the GNOME.
Major Differences between K-Ubuntu and Debian

When one compares K-Ubuntu and Debian, there are no significant differences between the, as K-Ubuntu was built from Debian. The only dissimilarities are found in support, repository data files, and the user’s specialized knowledge to work with the particular system.
- Technical Support
As Debian’s been around much longer than K-Ubuntu, obviously, it will have a larger user base. As a result, a better tech support team is available to help with any issues that arise. With K-Ubuntu being a lot younger, it was missing even professional support until 2013.
- Stability
It is a fact that Debian powered machines or computers run for more than a period of a year and still, do not feel the need to reboot unless a hardware update was required or there are any power failures. As it is older than K-Ubuntu, it is stable and boasts better quality. On the other hand, K-Ubuntu still has many bugs. Some of those bugs, which are reported, make the system reboot arbitrarily or don’t even let it reboot by any means. In other words, the selection behaved erratically and sometimes, even the icons vanished.
