It is a motivation with elements of autonomy, personal goals and enthusiasm. In most cases, intrinsic motivation is more favored, as it is voluntary and does not need force. The extrinsic motivation is the opposite of the intrinsic motivation, because in this case, an external recompense or approval is sought. It is not born of oneself. Depending on the situation, external rewards can reinforce or undermine internal beliefs and needs.
Extrinsic motivation can make some people more competitive and aggressive towards others when they seek the same prize. Speaking of prizes, tangible rewards have a fundamental role in extrinsic motivation, while in the intrinsic what they move are intangible rewards.
