Galaxy vs. Universe

What is Difference between Galaxy and Universe? Are you one of those who have always wanted to have a telescope? Or are you one of those who have always been more fascinated by the world and the work of astronauts and astronomers than by any other type of professional? If you answered yes to either or both questions, you are a person interested in the knowledge of the universe and its components.

Difference between Galaxy and Universe

When we talk about the universe or the elements that compose it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate some things from the others, for that reason, then we explain to you what the difference between galaxy and universe is; as there are people who believe that it is the same.

Galaxy

The galaxies are those that comprise a collection of planets, stars, stars dust and other types of interstellar matter that is reunited thanks to the force of gravity. A galaxy can contain any number of elements, there is no predetermined limit.

For example, a small galaxy could contain a few thousand stars, while a larger one might contain billions of stars. The Milky Way is an example of a galaxy and it is the one in which we are located.

Until now astronomers can only provide information about galaxies that are observable in the universe, however, it is said that there could be billions of galaxies of which we know absolutely nothing.

Also, there are three main types of galaxies:

Spirals: they are a little flat and their ellipsoidal systems are due to the movements of their stars. In the disks of these galaxies you can find planets, stars, dust, and gases. They rotate around their center and do on a regular basis.

Elliptical: your discs are flatter and are maintained thanks to their rotation. The giant elliptical galaxies that have been observed are about two million light-years away.

Irregular: The shape of this type of galaxy is very different to the shape of the spirals and elliptical. They lack form or regular structure.

The luminosity of galaxies may be related to the number of stars present in them. Those that emit a continuous spectrum of energy are better known and are more studied since these spectra are useful at the moment of understanding their operation of them.

Universe

The universe can be understood as a vast space in which everything that exists is present. Although astronomers have been asked how big this is, no one has yet given an accurate and compelling answer, perhaps because it is claimed that the universe is in constant movement and expansion. The universe includes all the matter and energy that exists, so we can say that this is like a huge box in which fits and everything is; including all galaxies, since the latter are only components of the universe.
