Ayurveda
Ayur means “life” and prohibits “knowledge”, therefore, it can be said that Ayurveda means” knowledge of life”. It is a system of traditional medicine of India much older than homeopathy, since it is almost 3,500 years old. Ayurveda believes in preventing diseases, as well as in curing them. C ree that the health of l human body depends on the balance of three components main or doshas (humors): wind (Vata), bile (Pitta) and phlegm (Kapha).

Use herbs and minerals to bring and keep the body in balance. Also emphasizes the need for the health system metabolic the good digestion, the excretion properly, exercise, yoga and meditation. Ayurveda uses plant drugs, herbs, minerals such as sulfur, and arsenic, copper, lead, gold and animal products such as milk, bones and gallstones … to produce medicines. As can be seen, in some cases they incorporate in small doses, minerals that are toxic; as is the case of mercury, lead and arsenic. This has led in some cases to alert people about it.

In spite of everything, Ayurveda has been widely accepted in many Western countries and is often promoted as a natural alternative or as a complement to modern medicine.

Homeopathy
The word homeopathy is derived from the Greek homoios meaning “similar” and from pathos which translates as “suffering”. This alternative and pseudo-scientific medicine was developed by Samuel Hahnemann in Germany between the 18th and 19th centuries.

Homeopathy c ree in philosophy “vitalism”, which says that several causes external and internal disturb the “vital force” and negatively affect the health of the people. Also, a firm that the diseases are present always in the body and that they only cured by something similar , that is, according to homeopaths; That which can produce a particular set of symptoms in a healthy person , can also be used to treat a sick person who is manifesting a set of similar symptoms.

Unlike Ayurveda, homeopathy focuses only on the “cure” of diseases. For this is diluted in water the substance that is supposed to cause the same symptoms as the disease suffered. This substance undergoes several dilution processes until the remaining active substances are very low.

In this type of “medicine” (there is no scientific evidence to prove it) several plants, animals, synthetic materials and mineral substances prepared by dilution in alcohol or distilled water are used. As a final result (after the substance has been stirred until diluted) only a small percentage of the original ingredients remain.

There have been some cases of arsenic and zinc poisoning. Many times homeopathy has been described as a misleading form of treatment, however, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938; Recognizes homeopathic remedies as medicines. Because of this, it has been integrated throughout the world as a form of alternative medicine.
